Equity

Equity, in accounting, represents the residual interest in the assets of an entity after deducting liabilities. It comprises investments made by shareholders and the total earnings retained by the company, often reported in various forms such as common stock, preferred stock, additional paid-in capital, retained earnings, and treasury stock.
